  • History of School:

The Inverness Presbyterian School is located along the Papourie Road, Upper Barrackpore, a rural, agricultural community that once abounded with lush sugar cane fields. The school was established by the Canadian Missionaries who sought to educate the East Indian Immigrant labourers in Literacy, Numeracy and Christianity. The school began with five pupils on the doorstep of an old wooden church. The first building was erected in 1951.

The present structure is a two-storey, concrete building with wooden floors. The present enrolment is two hundred and twenty-eight pupils. The majority of pupils come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and several come from single parent homes. From 2008 to January 2012, the Lengua Presbyterian School was housed at the Inverness Presbyterian School. The staff comprises of sixteen:  (two males and twelve female teachers and the principal). There is an appointed Principal, an appointed Senior Teacher, eleven T.Ps, two A.T.P. (Grad), a clerical officer. In addition, there are three full-time cleaners.
